Erosion process of polycarboxylate cements in organic acids.

چکیده
The amounts of Zn and Mg eluted from the zinc polycarboxylate cement into acetic, lactic and citric acids increased with an increase in the formation constant of the acid-Zn or -Mg complexes. The erosion process consisted of two processes, namely, dissolution of the unreacted cement powder and decomposition of the matrix. The matrix was remarkably eroded by 0.01M citric acid which formed stable complexes with Zn and Mg. Erosion of the matrix took place with the exchange reaction between H+ ion in the acid and Zn2+ or Mg2+ in the matrix.

Effect of Glass Ionomer and Polycarboxylate Cements on Gingival Health of Primary Molars Restored with Stainless Steel Crown
Introduction: Glass ionomer and polycarboxylate cement have different effects on the marginal seal, microleakage, pulp tissue stimulation, and gingival health. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of these cement on the gingival health of primary molars restored with stainless steel crowns (SSC). Methods: A total number of 34 children were selecte...

The mechanical properties of polycarboxylate cements containing 20 massO/o of fbur kinds of aluminoborate whiskers with ditTercnt fiber lengths and diameters were eva]uated. Bending strength of the cements inereased with increase in fiber length, whereby the strength ol' the cement with the longest fiber was about two times greater than that ef whisker-free cement, The diametral tensile strengt...
متن کاملIn vivo evaluation of marginal leakage of four inlay cements.
Marginal leakage was demonstrated in all the inlays at all time intervals with all cements by the use of the isotope Ca45. Gross marginal leakage was observed in all inlays luted with the cyanoacrylate cement at all time intervals. The setting time of this cement is very short, making it difficult to completely seat the inlay before the cement sets. The results of this study indicate that the c...

Introduction: Ferric sulfate pulpotomy is a safe and effective method of the pulpotomy of primary teeth. But the results of different studies indicate low success rate of ferric sulfate pulpotomy in comparison to Formocresol pulpotomy and a portion of these failures may be related to stimulating and harmful effects of zinc oxide Eugenol paste. The aim of this study was to determine and compare ...
